350 OCEAN ENGINEERING
The design and installation of this trellis structure required extensive advance planning. The metal framework had to be installed using a boom lift, without the aid of a crane, which imposed strict constraints on weight, assembly method, and access.
To maximize installation speed and minimize on-site operations, the structure was fully preassembled at ground level and then lifted and connected to pre-installed knife plates embedded in the building’s concrete structure.
The tubular elements were fabricated in powder-coated aluminum with a wood-grain finish to replicate the appearance of timber. The entire system was installed as a dry assembly, with no use of chemical anchors or silicone sealants.
While the engineering and detailing phase required more time than initially anticipated, the final installation was exceptionally fast and efficient, validating the prefabrication strategy and coordination efforts.
